My passion for women's rights has followed me for many years, starting in high school where I wrote about women's issues relating to domestic violence and abuse, and then infiltrating into both my undergraduate and law school curriculum at Aquinas College and Michigan State University College of Law, through my women's studies and family law classes. This education has been the key to teaching me the importance of being a constant advocate for equality and power amongst both genders. During my three years of law school, I spent two summers learning about the law from behind the bench of the Honorable Judge James R. Redford in the 17th Circuit Court in Grand Rapids. There, I became familiar with litigation in matters dealing in both criminal and civil law. Working with Judge Redford was by far some of the best experience I could have gained during law school, and started me down a path of success in the legal field. Working at DAWN for the past several years has given me everything I desire out of a law career - I work with clients on a personal basis, not only as a legal advisor, but also as a counselor and confidante. As a woman, I understand the challenges that women sometimes face in life. Because of that, women look to me as someone who can not only help, but also understand the very personal intricacies of their life experiences. I do everything I can to make this difficult process as easy as possible, and my clients know that they have someone that they can trust looking out for their interests, as well as the interests of their children.
